Action Learning Systems, Inc. Sells Interest in Achieve Data Solutions, LLC

Partnership Fueled Development of DataDirector, California's Premier Data Warehouse Software for the Education Community

MONROVIA —Today Action Learning Systems, Inc. (ALS) announced the sale of its interest in Achieve Data Solutions, LLC (ADS) to Harcourt. Harcourt is a global education company serving students and teachers in Pre-K through grade 12, adult learners, and readers of all ages. Harcourt is a member of the Reed Elsevier Group plc, a world-leading publisher and information provider. Reed Elsevier Group plc is owned equally by Reed Elsevier PLC (NYSE: RUK) and Reed Elsevier NV (NYSE: ENL).

ADS was formed in 2002 by ALS and Web Media Solutions, Inc. to address learning communities’ necessity for accurate, timely data on student performance. ADS developed DataDirector, a powerful tool to provide extensive multiple measure analyses and reports ranging from the district-wide level to the individual student. Subsequently, DataDirector has become the premier data warehouse software for the Golden State’s education community.

“DataDirector reflects our passion for data-driven decisions that enhance student achievement,” said Dr. Kit Marshall, ALS’ president. “We are very excited by Harcourt’s ability to expand DataDirector in markets across the nation.”

Current ALS clients using DataDirector or Benchmark Exams will continue to receive seamless, high-quality service. “We look forward to our strong, ongoing relationships with both ADS and Harcourt,” added Dr. Marshall.

The sale of its interest in ADS allows ALS to maintain its California focus on growing student assessment systems, including design, pacing, testing, data training and professional development.
