Kit Marshall, PhD
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Kit Marshall has served as CEO of Action Learning Systems since founding the company on 1995. Kit’s visionary work with California’s schools and districts has formed much of the basis for the success of ALS, and she provides critical direction and leadership to the entire company in its work with teachers and administrators at every level. She continues to coach district administrators, provide professional development for effective leadership, and plan reform initiatives based on data analysis and standards implementation.
Kit has decades of successful multi-level experience working at the elementary, middle, and high school levels as a teacher, principal, Program Specialist, Direct Instruction Reading and Math coach, and Director of Professional Development for Sacramento County Office of Education’s multi-county SELPA. She worked as a teacher and principal in elementary, middle, and high schools in the San Juan Unified School District over the course of 20 years.
Kit has designed standards-based administrative coaching and curriculum/assessment programs, as well as successful parent training programs and some of the first fully integrated programs in California for students with disabilities. She is a published author in standards-based curriculum design and coaching for school reform, and she is known throughout the United States and Canada for her work in the implementation of standards-based schools and districts. Kit received her Ph.D. in Educational Sociology from Stanford University.
Gary D. Soto
Gary D. Soto is the President of Action Learning Systems, Inc. Gary is a former elementary and secondary principal. In his 34+ years in education, Gary has helped PreK–12 districts and schools throughout the country to faithfully implement results-based reform that has helped to significantly increase student achievement for all students. He serves as a Leadership coach for Superintendents and their cabinets, along with providing instructional leadership support to thousands of district and site administrators. His current work with helping district and schools meet the challenges of high stakes accountability provide him with the insight that enables him to be a dynamic teacher, speaker, and leader of reform. Gary is the recipient of the National Educator Award for helping to reshape American Education.
Rebecca Salato, Ed.D.
Chief Operating Officer
Rebecca Salato, Ed.D., is Vice President. Becky’s responsibilities consist of supporting district reform through Leadership Academy, Administrative Coaching, Blueprint for Student Achievement, Response to Intervention, and strategic restructuring of service models for students with disabilities.
Before joining Action Learning Systems, Becky served as a classroom teacher in both, general and special education, a site principal, and a district office administrator in the area of instructional support services, including curriculum and instruction, special education and English learner support.
Becky received her B.A. in Education from Nazareth College, Rochester, NY, her M.A. degrees from California State University, Dominguez Hills in both Special Education and Curriculum and Instruction, and her Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership Administration and Policy from Pepperdine University.
Vice President of Accounting and Human Resources
Danelle Abbott is Vice President. Danelle’s responsibilities include overseeing and managing the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed asset records, general and entity accounting, Human Resources, and Operations, as well as summarizing and interpreting financial data for the use of management, creditors, and taxing authorities.
Before joining Action Learning Systems, Danelle worked as a staff accountant for a local CPA firm and as an accounting manager for a commercial construction company.
Danelle received her B.S. in Accountancy from California State University, Northridge.
Vice President of Training
Adam Warren is the Director of Resources. Adam’s responsibilities include scheduling, coordinating, and managing all contracts. In addition, he works as an Accountability Coach, providing site administration support with instructional leadership. Adam also serves as a DAIT (District Assistance and Intervention Team) Lead to assist districts with school reform.
Before joining Action Learning Systems, Adam was a site and district administrator in the Glendale Unified School District. He also served as a Social Science teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District at Reseda High School.
Adam received his B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Art from California State University at Northridge. He received his M.A. degrees from Pepperdine University in Psychology, Education, and Education Administration.
